From High School Intern to Future Electrical Engineer: Aiden Nord’s Journey with Robotic Solutions

At Robotic Solutions, we believe investing in the next generation of automation professionals is just as important as investing in technology. That’s why we’re always excited to welcome students who are eager to learn, ask questions, and gain real-world experience.

One of those students is Aiden Nord, who first joined us as a Forest Park High School intern over a year ago. This summer, Aiden returned to continue building on that experience, taking on new challenges while gaining valuable insight into the world of industrial automation.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Now pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aiden says his experiences at Robotic Solutions have helped confirm his career path.

“Electrical engineering is a broad field, and my experience at Robotic Solutions helped me better understand how I want to apply my skills within the industry, particularly in automation and integration.”

Seeing classroom concepts come to life through real manufacturing applications gave Aiden a clearer vision of where he wants to focus his career.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Throughout the summer, Aiden worked alongside our engineering and field service teams, experiencing firsthand what it takes to deliver successful automation projects.

“I especially enjoyed participating in installations. They provided a fast-paced learning environment that challenged me to adapt and apply my knowledge.”

Every installation presents unique challenges, giving interns opportunities to develop practical skills that simply can’t be learned from textbooks alone.

Developing Real-World Skills

When asked what skill he gained that will benefit him most in the future, Aiden didn’t hesitate.

“I developed a wide range of skills this summer, with the most valuable being my ability to troubleshoot effectively.”

Troubleshooting is one of the most valuable skills in automation. Learning how to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement solutions prepares students for successful careers in engineering and industrial automation.

A New Perspective on Manufacturing

Like many students entering the industry, Aiden discovered there’s much more to manufacturing than meets the eye.

“My perspective on manufacturing has changed significantly. I gained an appreciation for the nuance of automation systems, which reinforced my desire to pursue a career in this field.”

Modern manufacturing depends on the seamless integration of robotics, controls, software, and engineering expertise. Experiencing these systems firsthand gave Aiden a deeper understanding of how automation creates value for manufacturers.

Looking Ahead

As Aiden continues his education, he’s already thinking about how he can contribute even more during a future internship.

“After another year of coursework, I would like to take on a more active role in the integration process. I hope to contribute more during installations and continue developing skills that allow me to take on more responsibilities.”

His willingness to continue learning and growing is exactly what makes internships such an important part of developing future engineers.

The Biggest Takeaway

Perhaps the most important lesson Aiden learned wasn’t technical at all.

“One key takeaway is the importance of understanding and meeting customer needs.”

While engineering and technology drive automation, every successful project begins with understanding the customer’s goals and delivering solutions that help them succeed.
